The Art Academy Awards

     Why not have an academy awards for Art?
     Best Abstract painting goes to...
     Artist of the Year goes to...
     Best Installation goes to...
     Best Sculpture goes to....
     Best Nude Model goes to...
     Best Drawing goes to....
     Best Museum show goes to...
     Best Exhibit by an individual artist goes to...
     Best Group Show....

     The Academy Awards for movies is part award show, part advertising for the movie industry to make people think that what they do is really important.
     The Art World could learn a thing or two.

     I know it is ridiculous to give artists awards, but if actors can be given awards for being fictional characters in a movie, usually thought of by a novelist, which is then put into a screenplay reviewed by several people,..uh...well, artists should get something to.
     Artists are always screwed over, I have found.
   
     Galleries and Curators are the artists now.

     The actual artists who create the work, well, they are the working class of the art world, covered in clay and industrial paint, while gallery people sit in their nice comfy offices or whatever.

     I got to get out of here.  I'm starting to go cafe crazy.
